FRESHMAN
Mr. Juguilon states that this student has enthusiastically become a vibrant and active part of our EC community. She is present before and after school interacting with students and teachers alike. She can often be seen at morning prayer services. As a freshman, she gave much of her time to our Theatrical Stage Crew where she was always quick to lend a helping hand. Additionally, she helps lead our community’s school spirit by being a member of the band. She also was on the volleyball team this year. This student has definitely embraced what it means to be a part of the Panther Family!

SOPHOMORE
Miss Lanzola nominated our sophomore recipient, saying that he has a strong desire to help out however necessary at school and will often volunteer to help before even having to be asked. You can often find him moving items from the chapel to the auditorium, and then back again, to help set up our worship space for all-school liturgies. This year, he really stepped up in helping the greater community by serving as a pall bearer and volunteering at the Lorain County Homeless Stand Down event. Coach Fox says this student has been an outstanding member of our football team and community. He’s a constant presence at all the work the team does with the youth programs, volunteering his time to them. However, what really has stood out was the work he did volunteering with the women’s shelter. This student took it upon himself to organize a group of players to help relocated women and children in need. He’s the consummate leader and worker and it shows so much in what, and who, he selflessly gives his time to.
The recipient of the Pillar of Community Award at the sophomore level is Nathan Scholle.
JUNIOR
Mrs. Cunningham says that from the time this student began at Elyria Catholic, he has been very focused on community. For his confirmation service project, he organized a nut roll sale to benefit the Hwang family. Mrs. Ziegelmeyer states that he is an ambassador she can count on. He is always willing to represent the school in whatever fashion necessary. Coach Palmer adds that there is so much to say about this student and the difference he has made to the EC Basketball Program and Beyond! On the court, he brings a focus and intensity to every single practice and game striving to not only make himself better, but probably more importantly, to make his teammates better. His work ethic is contagious and it comes from an internal sense of pride in what he is doing and who he is doing it for. That same focus and intensity goes well beyond the Coliseum as well. Countless times, he has volunteered for many of the Outreach Programs we do as a program, teaching and mentoring younger players throughout the community. He does so with a genuine passion and gives 100% of himself to make a difference in their lives. It has been a real joy to see his commitment and inspires us all do more!
