Elyria Catholic High School is proud to announce that Maxwell Menner, Class of 2019, received a perfect score of 36 on the ACT and a perfect score of 1600 on the SAT. In addition to this incredible accomplishment, he was recently named a Finalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program for 2019.
As a third generation student of Elyria Catholic High School, Max has excelled in academics, athletics and extracurriculars. Having taken advantage of the CCP program through LCCC, Max studied Composition I, Ohio History, and Business Administration through online classes. In his continued quest for knowledge, Max filled his academic schedule with AP classes in History, Government, Calculus, Physics, Chemistry and English.
His talents extend beyond the classroom and into the EC community. He has been the pianist for the last three years for Elyria Catholic’s Godsquad - Music Ministry. As a Panther baseball player for four years, he has worn two hats as a 3rd baseman and pitcher. He is the President of the National Honor Society and a member of Science Olympiad and Model UN. For the past two years Max has been the Music Director for the Living Stations of the Cross, which is in its 22nd year of presenting the Passion of Christ during Lent to parishes and schools in Lorain & Cuyahoga County.
On top of all of his academics and extracurricular activities, Max can be found before and after school tutoring his peers in various subjects. His fellow classmates and teachers often remark that Max is an amazing young man who really cares about others. When asked about what he lives by, he commented, "I am dedicated to learning not just the what, but the why." This has been his motivation throughout his years at EC. “EC has given me a place to realize my potential and grow not only as a student, but as a person too.” We are sure that Max will continue to learn the why as he pursues a degree in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Alabama. We see a continuation of good things to come from Max. We wish him all the best.
