Law & Order Career Trek

On Monday, June 6, nine Elyria Catholic students participated in the Law & Order Career Trek, an EXP3 career development opportunity.

Students were greeted by EC alumnus, Mr. Rob Corts ‘79, Assistant United States Attorney & Chief of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force. Mr. Corts welcomed the students, shared information about the US District Court in downtown Cleveland and provided a tour of the facility.

Deputy US Marshall Erica Strand explained her role in government and walked students through the department. Mr. Peter Elliott, US Marshall, also spoke with the students.

Presentations were set up in a courtroom and students were seated in the jury box. Mr. Corts clarified his role as an attorney and head of the OCDETF. Students were shown case videos. EC alumni, Special Agents Nick Eichenlaub ‘00 and Joe Behlke ‘95, talked about their careers with the United States Drug Enforcement Administration. Special Agent Todd Platt spoke about his experience with the FBI and as a member of the SWAT team.

Students were lauded for their initiative in exploring careers in government and law. They have begun to establish a network of contacts, who are most willing to support students’ next steps in pursuing their dreams.
