Although Tim Cole ‘69 did not play football past his freshman year, he has remained a stalwart fan of the Elyria Catholic Panthers for over 50 years and is a member of the Quarterback Club.
Tim was employed by Ridge Tool for over 43 years working with the Industrial Engineering Group and helped the company implement Lean Manufacturing and earn their IS0 9001 certification. Tim’s work took him to Europe locations to complete many projects and he has a nine foot Christmas tree decorated with the ornaments he purchased each time he visited a new city. Over time, Tim has served the Elyria community in many volunteer roles. He was a member of the Board of Elyria Little League East and as a young manager, coached a team with a 33 game winning streak. Tim was an officer in the Knights of Columbus Council 774, Secretary of the Elyria Elks Lodge 465, a board of director member at the Elyria Country Club, and an officer of the Holy Name Society of St. Mary Elyria Parish.
Tim met his wife, Kathy (Solet) Cole ‘68 at a Knights of Columbus Oktoberfest fundraiser he coordinated. Although their time at EC overlapped for three years, they did not actually know each other during that time. Kathy taught for 35 years at Lorain High School and Admiral King High School. Tim and Kathy were married for over 40 years before Kathy passed in 2017. A fan of Diana Ross, Tim’s motto has always been “Reach out and touch somebody’s hand and make this world a better place if you can!” Elyria Catholic is honored to welcome Tim Cole ‘69 as the newest member of the Monsignor Newton Legacy Society as he has included the Elyria Catholic High School athletic program as a beneficiary in his estate plans.
