Dear Parents and Guardians,
CCP Updates from Nadia Leary, CCP Coordinator at LCCC:
Here are some updates on LCCC and our processes, specifically for both CCP students and new graduates.
First, in compliance with State of Ohio orders, LCCC has closed campuses to the public. There are some essential personnel that are still physically there, and there are other employees that are returning to campus on a periodic basis to complete work (printing and mailing letters, checking for incoming mail, etc.).
LCCC is still in the process of moving the Accuplacer assessment to a virtually proctored exam. We are exploring other options, but at this time, it is unlikely that we will be able to administer Accuplacer until sometime in April. For CCP students, we will continue to accept ACT/SAT scores, and our “deadline” of June 15 for fall applications has always been flexible. We will continue to work and communicate with students to make sure they’re able to apply for admission with LCCC.
There is some good news, though! ALEKS (LCCC’s Math assessment tool) can and IS being offered online to students! And with students being home, now would be a great time for them to work on Math skills and improving their score. Students can both assess for the first time and re-assess once they have completed the necessary time in the modules. For more information, including how to take ALEKS, you can refer students to: https://www.lorainccc.edu/admissions-and-enrollment/placement-remote-testing/. The information is near the bottom of the page.
We are still awaiting many updates from the state, especially regarding CCP. There was news today, however, on legislation that is currently moving through the House and Senate. Please see this link for amendments that were added from the Senate Floor. There are several provisions affecting the K-12 community.
