Ms. Machovina and Mrs. Strippy nominated a Junior they believe shows excellence in many areas of her high school career thus far. This student shines on and off the volleyball court. She has been involved in March for Life in Washington DC, The National Catholic Youth Conference, and Student Ambassadors. She has also been a lector at school Masses.
At the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, this student took the initiative to organize and distribute the EC face masks. Mrs. Finicle commented "This student was quick to realize that our need to wear face masks provided an opportunity to raise funds for Student Senate while showing our EC pride and keeping our community safe. She made sure our fundraising dollars supported the local economy by finding a supplier nearby, and then created mask designs that appealed to students and alumni alike. This student mobilized her classmates to safely deliver masks to our students and families and to prepare shipments to alumni across the country."
Mrs. Adkins commented on this student's excellent academic achievements of managing her time of volunteer activities along with honors classes. Ms. Mac stated that her attendance is stellar and she always greets her and Mrs. Strippy in the office with a smile.
For all of these reasons, the recipient of the Pillar of Excellence Award at the junior level is Ana MacDonald.
