Julie, a retired elementary school teacher, taught thirty-five years in North Ridgeville City Schools in Ohio. She retired in 2009 and has been a substitute teacher since that time.
During her career, in the lower elementary grades, Julie instilled a love of nature with her students. She also enjoyed teaching creative writing and encouraged her students to become involved in the Young Authors Program where they wrote and illustrated their own stories.
Julie also loves to travel, enjoys meeting new people, and learning about new cultures.
She has had the fortunate experience of teaching English summer school to very young children in Stary Sacz and Nowy Sacz in southern Poland. The use of colorful picture books proved to be a very valuable asset during this experience.
Julie says she has fond memories of her years at Elyria Catholic High School. “My education at EC enriched me socially and in my faith and academics."
The College Prep courses that I took prepared me to pursue a degree in Elementary Education at Bowling Green State University. Being involved in Future Teachers of America also allowed me to experience teaching as I tutored, taught fellow students on Turn Around Day and assisted in PSR classes at St. Jude.”
Fifty-five years after graduating, Julie is still good friends with many of her classmates to this day.
Julie enjoys gardening and bird watching in her backyard; she appreciates the beauty of nature. Her love of nature and enthusiasm to teach young learners was Julie’s motivation to write this story, Mother Nature's Party. She hopes to share her love and respect for nature with readers of all ages.
“Ever grateful I will be for the knowledge gained from EC.”
