Jakob Hwang Memorial Scholarship

The Elyria Catholic High School Class of 2018 has come together to create The Jakob Hwang Memorial Scholarship Fund. Jakob was a member of this graduating class who lost his life to cancer shortly after graduation. While at EC, Jakob was a “legendary” goalie for the boys soccer team and very active in faith based activities on campus. He was most known for his infectious smile, positive attitude and complete trust and faith in God’s plan.

Our goal is to reach an initial investment of $10,000 to endow the scholarship and allow annual awards from the interest off the principal. Once established, applications for the scholarship will be distributed annually to each Elyria Catholic Junior Class. Recipients will be named in May and the scholarship applied to their senior year tuition bill.
