Elyria Catholic High School is pleased to announce that
Mackenzie Kemer, Ashley Tanner and Kaylyn Strawderman are recipients of the Nancy J. Dowdell Scholarship. Nancy J. Dowdell, Elyria Catholic High School Class of 1970, established the scholarship to help students pursuing post secondary education or training in the healthcare field or a trade. Ms. Dowdell served as an RN in healthcare for over 25 years. Although, initially only two scholarships were set to be awarded, Ms. Dowdell was impressed with the caliber of all of the applications and opted to award the scholarship to a third recipient. Mackenzie Kemer and Kaylyn Strawderman plan to study nursing at The University of Mount Union and Kent State University. Ashley Tanner plans to study pharmacy at the University of Toledo.
Kaylyn Strawderman is also the recipient of the
King Family Scholarship. Mr. Jim King, a Lorain Catholic High School graduate of the Class of 1981, and his family established a college scholarship for an EC student that will pay a portion of their college tuition for their next four years. The family hoped to help students who would be the first generation in their family to be able to attend college.
We are so very grateful to our alumni and friends of EC who are dedicated to supporting our students as they continue moving forward and building upon the excellent education they received at Elyria Catholic. Congratulations Mackenzie, Ashley and Kaylyn!
