In light of recent guidance from the State of Ohio, LCCC is adopting new admission and placement standards for CCP students for Summer and Fall 2020 semesters. I’m attaching both a document explaining LCCC’s admission and placement standards as well as a document from the state to help explain these changes to students. Here is a brief summary of LCCC’s new standards:
For Admission:
· Statewide Eligibility=3.0 cumulative GPA
· LCCC will admit any CCP student who applied for summer and fall 2020 semesters who has a cumulative GPA of 3.0. This includes weighted or unweighted grades.
· If a student who applied for summer/fall 2020 previously tested below the statewide remediation free standards, LCCC will now admit that student if their cumulative GPA is at least a 3.0.
· LCCC will be sending admission letters to students in the coming week letting them know their admission status.
For Placement (this is AFTER a student has been admitted to LCCC with a 3.0 GPA):
· For all Math courses, ALEKS is still available for students to test. Those standards have not changed for placement into Math courses.
· For ENGL 161 (College Composition): Students with a 3.0 unweighted GPA who have completed at least 4 semesters of high school coursework will place into ENGL 161 OR students with a 3.0 unweighted GPA and a Writing Sample of 7 or higher will also place into ENGL 161.
· For now, the English placements are only for summer and fall 2020 semesters.
We are working on updating our website with this information. Additionally, if and when Accuplacer again becomes available, students will also have the opportunity to be admitted and test into CCP and ENGL courses via statewide remediation standards. Students can continue to check https://www.lorainccc.edu/admissions-and-enrollment/placement-assessment/ for updates on remote testing opportunities.
