March is National Athletic Training Month and the ECHSAthletic Department would like to recognize our Athletic Trainer, Jamie Schupbach. Athletic Trainers are being celebrated all across America this March and the slogan this year is “Essential to Healthcare.” Jamiehas been an essential part of our Athletic Department at ECHSfor the past 14 years and has been certified for 26 years!
When schools shut down last March due to COVID-19, Athletic Trainers were the first healthcare employees displaced. Across northeast Ohio, Cleveland Clinic Athletic Trainers proved to be essential healthcare workers. They jumped into action serving as COVID-19 screeners, provided relaxation stations for frontline caretakers, assisted with testing, and many other duties.
Jamie provides our student athletes with medical care in the areas of injury prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation. He can also assist you in making an appointment with an appropriate medical professional. You can see Jamiein action working with our student athletes daily. The Athletic Training room is located in the school near the locker rooms and in the field house. However, hislocation varies depending on the season and home event needs.
Head Football Coach and Athletic Director Brian Fox stated, "Jamie has been an amazing influence on the school. His experience, work ethic, and character has been a constant reminder that he will be here for our students and put their health and safety above all other things." Head Baseball Coach Bruce Lisicky added, "Jamie's been a pleasure to work with, he's very attentive to the students' needs. He always has their best interests and safety in mind."
Don't hesitate to contact Jamie with any injury or illness concern. He is an essential asset to our athletic department and school!
