The Dan and Mila Reaser Family Foundation have established the
Joan and Cecil Reaser Scholarship Fund. Dan, a member of the Class of 1978, and Mila along with their son and daughter, Danny, Class of 2011 and Shannon, Class of 2015 would like to honor Dan’s parents, Joan, member of the Class of 1952 and Cecil, by awarding this scholarship for an Elyria Catholic student to attend Lorain County Community College for two years. The scholarship amounts to approximately $8720 over two years as it includes tuition and books. The first recipient of this scholarship will be announced during the award assembly for the Class of 2020.
Dan and his family were motivated by the thought that a student with potential, but without financial means would miss an opportunity to build on their Elyria Catholic education at LCCC. They feel this scholarship will unburden the student from having to work full time while attending college. Their wish is that this recipient will be able to focus all of their efforts on their education at LCCC.
Danny and Shannon, Executive Directors of the foundation shared that “both EC and LCCC are near and dear to our hearts and we hope this scholarship helps encourage others to follow in our footsteps in contributing to the success of the youth in our community.”
“So many of our students are looking for a school with a great academic program and sense of family. How wonderful for our students to go from Elyria Catholic to LCCC and find the same aspects as they do at EC,” Suzanne Lester. We are fortunate to have alumni at Elyria Catholic who believe in our students and wish to help them become who they are meant to be. Thank you to the Dan and Mila Reaser Family Foundation for coming forward to make this a reality.
