After attending Catholic grade school at St. Anthony in Lorain, and her two older sisters attending EC, Erin knew she would be a Panther. Since she was already familiar with the academics and community, Erin knew she wanted to continue her Catholic education at the high school level.
As a student, Erin loved being a member of the girls basketball team. Whether it was practice or a game, she looked forward to her time in Coliseum with the rest of her teammates and coaches.
“Coach Rothgery and Coach Schill did an amazing job fostering an environment of learning, discipline, and work-ethic development, all while making each member of our team feel safe and cared for.
After graduating from Elyria Catholic in 2013, Erin went on to earn her Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Mercyhurst University. Something she learned from the Elyria Catholic Community that she took with her to college is to always be kind because you never know what someone’s situation might be. She also says EC really prepared for college and beyond.
“The academic programs instilled a curiosity to learn and a drive to put in the work into my studies, which made my transition to college academics smooth and into my professional career. As a CPA, I work 12-hour days every day from January through April, and I believe my ability and drive to succeed each winter is rooted in my experience at EC.
Erin has been working for RSM US LLP, a public accounting firm, for four years. She is currently the Audit Supervisor in the Cleveland office.
In 2020, she married fellow EC alum Conor Monaghan '11. After living in Chicago for a few years, they purchased a home in Amherst, OH, where they currently reside with their six-month-old Bernese Mountain puppy, Whiskey Jack!
She says she hopes current and future students have the ability to learn in an environment that incorporates new technology and updated material in conjunction with the core principles that have been the foundation that EC has been built on since inception. Loyalty that never dies!
