Elyria Catholic along with
The Dan and Mila Reaser Family Foundation are proud to announce the winners of the
Joan and Cecil Reaser Scholarship for 2020. The inaugural recipient of the scholarship is Elyria Catholic senior Thomas Marquitz. As the winner Thomas will receive full tuition for two years plus books for a full associate’s degree at Lorain County Community College. Excited to receive this scholarship, Thomas notes,
“I am grateful to the Elyria Catholic community for the education that I received. I look forward to this opportunity provided to me by The Dan and Mila Reaser Family Foundation to make myself a better person and give back to the community. I plan to study criminal justice and law enforcement while attending Lorain County Community College.”
In addition to Thomas’s application, Danny and Shannon, co-executive directors of the foundation, were touched by the applications of two other Elyria Catholic students, seniors Meghan Jancsura and Michael Thoman. They have been awarded partial scholarships to LCCC for their continued education.
The Dan and Mila Reaser Family Foundation recently established the Joan and Cecil Reaser scholarship to pay for an EC student with full tuition for two years plus books at Lorain County Community College, which is equal to a full associate’s degree. Dan, Mila, Danny and Shannon’s passion for EC is exhibited not only through the establishment of this scholarship, but through the multiple generations of Elyria Catholic graduates. Dan Reaser is a graduated of the Class of 1978. His mother Joan Rothgery Reaser graduated in 1952 and his children Danny Reaser and Shannon Reaser graduated in 2011 and 2015. Danny’s wife, Bailey DeSouza Reaser also graduated from EC in 2006. In total children and grandchildren of Cecil and Joan Reaser, 15 all graduated from Elyria Catholic.
Elyria Catholic is grateful to
The Dan and Mila Reaser Family Foundation and Lorain County Community College for providing our students the opportunity to build upon the strong academic education they received at Elyria Catholic during their next chapters in education at LCCC.
