Elyria Catholic Athletic Department proudly announces that the following coaches will join the Panther family and share their experiences and skills with our student-athletes. Completing the Panther Football staff roster is Chase Farris, Head Football Coach; Troy Smith, Associate Head Football Coach; and Doran Grant, Assistant Coach and Head of Strengthening and Conditioning. Leading our Panther Boys Soccer program is Tony Csiszar.
Athletic Director Jim Piazza: "I’m pleased that our search committee conducted a detailed and thorough search process, and I look forward to welcoming Chase, Troy, Doran, and Tony. I am impressed that all four coaches focus on player development and value on-the-field and off-the-field success.”
Chase Farris
A former American football offensive guard, Chase played college football at The Ohio State University, where he experienced the excitement of both the defensive and offensive line, finishing as right tackle. After graduating from OSU with a bachelor’s degree in Consumer and Family Financial Services, Chase was signed by the Detroit Lions in 2016. Chase’s professional athletic career includes playing offensive lineman for the New England Patriots, as a member of the winning Super Bowl LI team in 2017, and the Atlanta Legends and DC Defenders.
Currently, Chase resides in Elyria and is the Executive Director of Save our Children.
Troy Smith
A 2006 Heisman Trophy winner, Troy Smith played professional football for the Baltimore Ravens and the San Francisco 49ers as a quarterback. Hailing from Cleveland, Ohio, Troy played running back and tight end during his high school years. Troy later attended The Ohio State University, where he quarterbacked a number of high profile games, winning several, including one against archrival Michigan Wolverines.
Troy, a father of two, currently resides in Rocky River and is a real estate developer.
Doran Grant
An Ohio State Buckeye, who played football from 2011-2014, Doran’s early beginnings in athletics was as a hurdler and sprinter. Doran won the 2010 state title in the 60m hurdles indoors, and the 100m hurdles outdoors, when he was at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in Akron. Additionally, Grant excelled on the football field and was ranked as No.3 cornerback in his class. During his professional athletic career, Doran played for the Chicago Bears, Jacksonville Jaguars, and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Doran is the Director of Sports Training and NCAA Recruiting for Raw Talent Sports, where he uses his skills in mindfulness, coaching, and fitness training. He currently lives in Columbus, but is moving to the area.
Tony Csiszar
Tony Csiszar is the owner, director, and professional soccer coach for UPPER 90 FC & Game Day Sports in Oberlin and at the Barn in Medina. Tony trains youth from all over Northeast Ohio, instilling good soccer skills, practices, and habits, yet still making it fun and enjoyable. He knows first-hand what dedication to a sport means, as Tony was the youngest professional to sign a contract at 18 years of age. Tony enjoyed a professional career playing for the Cleveland Crunch and the Canton Invaders.
Tony and his wife Beth live in Seville.
