Dr. Joanne Romero Loos ‘02 was voted the biggest partier by her senior class and now hails from Honolulu, HI. Joanne says her fondest memories from EC revolve around activities with her volleyball family and Mrs. Bailey Smith, Spanish teacher, who was “hard” but challenged Joanne to work even harder and also introduced her to service in a soup kitchen.
Joanne originally studied Journalism at Ohio University and then earned her Masters in Information Sciences from the University of Hawaii, with concentrations in communication, computer science, library science, and information technology management. Joanne focused her PhD research on Information Technology and Health Communication. She currently serves as a Science Writer for the University of Hawaii at Manoa and is an adjunct professor for both the University of Hawaii and San Jose State University.
Joanne met her husband, Scott Loos ‘02, while attending Elyria Catholic. They dated their senior year and have been together ever since. Joanne’s family relocated to the Hawaii area and Joanne convinced Scott to follow her. Scott is the General Manager for the waterpark, Wet’n’Wild Hawaii. Joanne and Scott are always outside and enjoy stand-up paddling, hiking, and running on the beach.
