Theresa (Callahan) Day ‘06 says her fondest memories of Elyria Catholic revolve around the school spirit everyone displayed. She says she felt like an immediate part of the EC family after Lorain Catholic High School closed and she transferred to EC her junior year. She says she donned a “Well, this is happening, what can I do to move forward?” attitude. A member of the Cross Country team, she enjoyed EC team trips to meets and invitationals. She says her class was labeled a rowdy bunch in the stands in support of their Panthers, and that vibrant school spirit continued on the buses en route to the football playoffs.
Theresa earned a B.S. in Communications from the University of Loyola in Chicago, along with minors in Graphic Arts and Women in Gender Studies. When family members suffered from cancer, Theresa became well connected with The American Cancer Society, eventually serving on their Executive Team for Relay for Life. Theresa also worked for the American Diabetes Association running their Tour De Cure event. Knowing EC was a special place for her has inspired her to use her fundraising skills to support other Catholic high schools and their mission. In 2017, Theresa began working in the Admissions Department of Magnificat High School but was quickly recruited to work in their Advancement Department and orchestrated Magnificat’s Annual Giving Day.
In 2020, Theresa moved closer to home to work for Beaumont High School and currently serves as their Director of Annual and Leadership Giving. Theresa was an avid runner for many years participating in both the Cleveland and Akron marathons and other half-marathons until she shattered her talus bone. Donning that same “Well, this is happening and how can I move forward?” attitude, she is now an enthusiastic cyclist. Theresa and her husband have been married for five years and are raising two boys, Liam and Brody.
