Elyria Catholic High School is proud to announce this year's
King and Queen,
Mel Belhouane and Sydney Yanak. We also congratulate the members of the 2020 Homecoming Court. Mel Belhouane is from North Ridgeville and attended the Academy of St. Adalbert in Berea. He is the son of Shelley Klemens. Mel is on both the football and basketball teams and is also a member of the marching band. He is involved in Film Club,Socratic Club, Board Game Club, Music Ministry, and Ambassadors. Mel is active in our Theatre Department, both on stage and behind the scenes. As a sophomore, Mel received the Pillar of Community for the way he is able to pull the Elyria Catholic family together. To Mel, EC means Excellence in all things and Compassion in all things.
Sydney Yanak is from North Ridgeville and attended St Peter’s grade school. She is the daughter of Dan and Holly Yanak. At Elyria Catholic, Sydney is a co-captain of the Varsity Volleyball team and achieved the Chronicle Telegram Player of the Week recognition. Sydney also is an EC Ambassador and volunteers with both Special Olympics and EC's Christmas on Campus. Sydney says
“My time here at EC has meant many things to me including faith, teamwork, friendships, and community. It has also helped me become a strong person who has learned to love and respect others.”
